F.A.Q.
(Frequently Asked Questions)
What's the difference between your cold-pressed juice and the cold-pressed juice at the grocery store?
Most cold pressed juice found in the grocery store has been pasteurized through a process called High Pressure Processing (HPP) or High Hydrostatic Pressure (HHP). Though this process extends shelf life, it compromises the taste, color and nutritional benefits of your juice. Our juice does not undergo any processing, nor does it get any added preservatives. This means you get a product with the maximum amount of nutritional value.
How long does the juice last, i.e. what is the shelf life?
Cold pressed juice may vary in shelf life depending on the ingredients. Juices containing citrus (lemon, lime, orange, etc) are typically good for 4-7 days from the made-by date. Juices without citrus have a shelf life of about 3 days.
Why has my juice separated?
Separation in your juice is completely natural! No need to worry, just give it a shake and enjoy.
Why are there disclaimers on the back of my juice?
The FDA requires such labeling for juices that do not undergo a pasteurization process or other forms of processing that result in a “5-log” reduction in pathogenic bacteria. While these processes allow for an extended shelf life (over 2 months), they also reduce the taste, quality, and health benefits of the juice.
At Blend Lab Café, we naturally preserve our juices using citrus ingredients like lime, lemon or orange. We also keep our produce cold through the entire process of juicing, from cleaning to pressing to bottling. Sure, it doesn’t last 2 months, but you can rest assured that your juice will remain fresh until the date of expiration on your bottle.
What about the fiber?
This is a juicy question! There are 2 main types of fiber in our food: water soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. Our juice is PACKED with soluble fiber but most of the insoluble fiber is filtered out in the pulp. Here are some differences between these two kinds of fiber.
Soluble fiber plays an important role in supporting heart health and regulating blood sugar levels. It dissolves in water to form a gel-like substance, which helps lower cholesterol levels by binding to cholesterol molecules and removing them from the body. This can reduce the risk of heart disease. Soluble fiber also helps stabilize blood sugar by slowing the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream, making it beneficial for managing diabetes. Additionally, it promotes healthy digestion by supporting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria and aiding in the overall function of the digestive system.
Insoluble fiber plays a crucial role in promoting digestive health by adding bulk to stool and helping it pass more easily through the digestive tract. It doesn’t dissolve in water, so it moves through the gastrointestinal system mostly intact, which helps prevent constipation and supports regular bowel movements. Insoluble fiber also helps maintain gut health, reduce the risk of diverticulosis, and may contribute to overall colon health. Additionally, it can aid in weight management by promoting a feeling of fullness, which can reduce overeating.
Are your ingredients organic?
Believe it or not, organic doesn’t mean not chemically treated! In fact, part of the organic certification requires specific treatments to farmers’ crops! We source most of our fresh produce from Florida local farms who do not spray or treat their plants with chemicals or use GMOs. This means while they do not have an Organic certification label, they are still every bit as clean.
When certain local crops become less available, we seek out certified organic fruits and vegetables when it matters. We encourage you to look into the “Clean Fifteen” and “Dirty Dozen,” as this provides us with a standard recommendation on when to prioritize organic.
What is a "Juice Cleanse?"
A juice cleanse is a detox method where you consume only fresh cold press juice for a set period [Typically 1 to 7 days]. This process helps reset your digestive system, flush out toxins, and provide essential nutrients from fruits and vegetables. Our body can’t digest and heal at the same time, so by focusing on juice instead of solid foods, you can improve energy, hydration, and your body‘s natural detox functions.
During the cleanse you’ll enjoy a variety of juices made from high-quality ingredients and packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Our juices promote better digestion, help with weight loss, and support overall health. Whether you’re aiming for weight loss or simply refreshing your routine, our juice cleanse is an effective way to feel revitalized!
